But I can understand your differing opinion on rules interpretation. An amateur xmsn is legal as long as a relatively narrow digi mode frequency is set properly or voice (or tone spurs) don't splatter and no part of the composite signal falls outside of the channel boundaries.Ĭlick to expand.I disagree. Think of each 60m channel as a 2.8 Khz wide "micro-band". Fortunately, JT modes are much more narrow, therefore several can be spaced out simultaneously within the 2.8 KHz wide channel.

SO, that enables properly bandwidth limited voice, plus any other digital signal that fits withing 2.8 KHz, to be used. NOT every individual TONE! Otherwise nothing but CW could accomplish perfect "centering"! (How would anyone ever synchronize?)įurthermore, regarding location within the channel, the amateur "signal must be centered" is being interpreted as the center of a 2.8 KHz wide pass band. It does not mean multiple hams may not share the channel at the same time. It means any single individual amateur station shall not transmit more then one signal per channel simultaneously. I think "one signal per channel" is being misinterpreted. This is typically the frequency shown on the frequency display."Ĭhannel 3 on 60m is being used extensively for JT modes. In addition, the FCC continues to require that all digital transmissions be centered on the channel-center frequencies, which the Report and Order defines as being 1.5 kHz above the suppressed carrier frequency of a transceiver operated in the Upper Sideband (USB) mode. "On 60 meters hams are restricted to only one signal per channel and automatic operation is not permitted. So those that operate or read the below link.how do you read how 60 meters should be used for digital modes? It seems the 5.357 60m channel is set in WSJT-X for JT65/JT9 but from how I read it and operated it your signal should be set at center of the frequency or at +1500 and only one signal at a om what I see this 60m channel is very busy with multiple JT65 signals spread and none at center +1500. I have made a number of digital mode contacts on 60 meters but I have tried to abide what I think are the rules that apply to the 60 meter band.
